Microwave Salted Carmel Sauce

 Why waste time boiling caramel, just to mess it up, when you can make it in the microwave. I used this recipe to go on Carmelita's. All Carmelita recipes call for candy carmels that need to be melted. You think I plan that crap ahead of time to buy candy caramels???? 


Microwave Salted Carmel 

From Gemma's Bigger Bolder Baking 

4 TBSP butter 

1/2 Cup Cream 

1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar 

1/2 tsp salt 

1/2 tsp vanilla extract 

Directions:

Combine the brown sugar, butter, and cream. 

Microwave the mixture for 1 minute, stir then microwave another 30 seconds more. In total cook for 1 1/2- 2 minutes more. 

Add in the vanilla and salt and whisk in until it's nice and smooth. 

When you take it out of the fridge you should heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time and stir after every cycle. Keep going until it's nice and smooth again. 

If you don't want salted caramel- um don't put in the salt.
